Snowmobiling around and ON Lake George

Snowmobiling is by far my personal favorite winter activity, and here in Lake George there’s plenty of over the top places to enjoy it!

If you have never been snowmobiling, then you have no idea what you are missing! If you have been , then you know what I’m talking about!

THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF SNOWMOBILING

Snowmobiling is an incredible way to enjoy the outdoors with your family and friends.

Not only is and a great sport that provides exercise and invigoration, but it is also a great way to relax and take in some great winter scenery that would be very hard to get otherwise.

If you need acceleration and excitement you’ll find it. However, if you are searching for solitude and a place to deal with the tensions of modern life, you’ll have no problem finding that either!

Below is a video that illustrates just how fun snowmobiling can be, while it wasn’t filmed in Lake George the scenery is very similar. I found it very motivating, although I don’t recommend trying a lot of the moves that are shown!

WHERE TO GO

There are literally hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails in the Adirondacks, over a hundred miles of which connect directly to Lake George. Many of these trails are frequently used and groomed by snowmobile clubs.

If you want an idea of the trails around Lake George you might enjoy these maps from local snow mobile clubs: North Warren County Snowmobile Trail Map  and South Warren County Snowmobile Trail Map.

If you have your own snowmobile you obviously will have no problem finding a variety of places to ride. If you don’t have one, yet, 😉 don’t worry. The easiest and most stress free way to enjoy snowmobiling is to take a guided tour.

There are several businesses in the area that offer guided tours. The closest to the village of Lake George is Lake Vanare Snowmobile Tours. They offer several tour options, I would recommend the Prospect mountain trail, the views of Lake George are astonishing!

Another Great option, one that has even better online reviews, is a little further north. C&C Snowmobile Tours.  They have been in business for over 40 years and the experience shows. Of course the amazing location helps too!

WHEN TO GO

This is the million dollar question! The simple answer is: when it snows. 🙂 The good thing is that a typical winter here in the Adirondacks it snows a lot. As early as October and as late as May.

Of course we all know that the weather has been unpredictable in recent years, to say the least. Some years it snows almost every day, and others you have to watch the forecast closely to plan a day out. However, during a typical winter almost every day from December through March is a great day to snowmobile!

CONCLUSION
