Rustic House Plans Online!

One of the most frequent questions that our guests ask, is where we came up with all of our remodeling/decoration ideas.

Since, of of the main objectives of the blog section of our website is to answer frequently asked questions I felt inspired to share some of our “secrets”.

Our style is obviously mainly Italian renaissance, however, we also tried to mix some local rustic flavor into it. While the most influential part of our inspiration came form our overactive imaginations we also had a lot of help from the wonderful world of online images.

There is literally no end to the quantity of online inspiration. Below are some of my personal favorite places to get ideas:

Pinterest.com

This is probably the most obvious and almost cliche one to mention, however, it is truly the most inspirational place to get new ideas! I’d say that most of the ideas for our suites came from Pinterest pictures.

There is no doubt that you are familiar with Pinterest.Even if you don’t think you have a creative bone in your body, you will come up with amazing ideas in no time. If to the contrary you are the creative type, you will enjoy a never-ending supply of images to stoke your imagination!

Just type in something like “rustic cabins” and you will find an endless array of images!

Houzze.com

I’m sure you have already seen this popular site, however, if you haven’t it is an amazing place to find ideas and house plans.

The story on the founding of the website is interesting. As the story goes the founders of the site, Adi and Alon, were in the process of remodeling and ended up with a huge and confusing pile of magazines full of ideas. Not only was the pile of magazines hard to organize and keep track of, but the stack of referrals quickly got confusing and overwhelming.

They that ought that there had to be a better way, and as a result they decided to make a better way! Their website was conceived in order to make it easy to keep track of all of your ideas as well as find and keep track of contractors, architects, designers etc.

If you aren’t familiar with the site you really should give it a look:

Mosscreek.net

I love this site! As far as rustic architecture goes I think this is the best place online to get ideas. Mosscreek is a small company based in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The beautiful place where they live seems to be a great inspiration to their work as they are experts in the design of rustic American architecture.

In addition to having a very inspiring website they also offer their services in designing custom, unique and authentic homes. Whether you are looking for detailed plans or just want to dream, I think this is the best place to start:

HousePlans.net

If you are looking for house plans this is a great site with a lot of variety. I really enjoyed this site, most of the plans that I looked at included real pictures of the house, which I feel is important. They offer a selection of over 14,000 house plans and are constantly updating their archives.

Their prices are pretty good and they offer quality, detailed plans. Their plans don’t usually include an architectural stamp or plumbing/electrical details, however, they provide a great base!

AmericanClassicHomes.com

This site is fascinating! Their designs are more classic than rustic, however, many do have a rustic flare.

What I enjoy the most about this site are the 3d virtual tours. You can actually “walk” through the houses clicking where you want to go. They also include video tours that walk through real houses built with their floorpans. For this reason this site is unique and definitely worth a visit:

I hope you enjoy these sites as much as I do!
